FAQs

The Olympic Games are a major international sporting event that takes place every four years. The Games bring together athletes from around the world to compete in a variety of sports and promote international understanding and goodwill. The modern Olympic Games were inspired by the ancient Olympic Games, which were held in Olympia, Greece, from the 8th century BCE to the 4th century CE. The modern Olympic Games were first held in Athens, Greece, in 1896, and they have been held regularly since then, with a few exceptions due to World Wars. The Games include both summer and winter editions, alternating every two years. The Summer Olympics feature a wide range of sports, including track and field, swimming, gymnastics, soccer, and many others. The Winter Olympics include sports like skiing, ice hockey, figure skating, and more.

The Olympic Games are held every four years, but there are two editions of the Games: the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics. They are staggered so that one of them occurs every two years.

The success of countries in the Olympic Games is often measured by the total number of medals won, considering gold, silver, and bronze. The historical performance of countries at the Olympics can vary based on the era, geopolitical factors, and changes in the sports landscape. As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the United States and the Soviet Union (now represented by Russia and other former Soviet states) have been historically successful in terms of total medal counts.

Python was used for the analysis of data in order to determine whether temperature did in fact effect performance, including librarires like pandas and numpy. HTML was used to build the site you are viewing currently.

Temperature is the most studied weather parameter and is also less volatile then factors such as rain which change day to day. This means when we average out temperature in one country vs anaother we could be confident that the difference was accurate.
